We are now looking for a passionate senior energy and climate analyst to build on the existing strength and impact of Ember’s European team. The new Senior Energy & Climate Analyst focused on the UK will enhance Ember’s reach and influence and work to ensure that the UK delivers on its clean electricity transition plans. You will need to have a proven record of producing compelling, data-led analytical outputs and a comprehensive understanding of the UK electricity system and policy landscape. Background The UK power sector transition is moving ahead of many other major industrialised nations, with a dramatic transition from reliance on coal and gas to wind, solar and nuclear. With a 2035 clean power commitment from the UK government, and a 2030 target from the opposition, it is a crucial environment for demonstrating how a fully clean power system can work. Ember led the research and advocacy which won these commitments. As part of the -power transition, 10% of UK electricity now comes from forest biomass, and the UK government has plans to invest in BECCS (biomass with carbon capture and storage) - a decision which will have a major international impact.
