The Role

 

We are seeking an experienced senior electrical engineer to take responsibility for a portfolio of wind farms in NSW, from grid connection planning, to electrical design, to negotiation and supporting the project team throughout the development stage.  Experience with negotiating grid connection agreements for wind farm projects is essential.

The role includes:

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake grid connection feasibility studies
  • Prepare cabling and substation designs suitable for inclusion in the planning of wind and solar farms
  • Support development team efforts/mentoring development team in identifying cost-effective substation locations
  • Manage the grid connection process from connection enquiry to securing a connection agreement
  • Understand various NSPs’ workings, obligations and processes – particularly TransGrid and Essential Energy
  • Undertake steady state studies using PowerWorld Simulator and/or PSS/e
  • Interpret and prepare substation/switchyard general arrangements and single line diagrams as required
  • Assist in the development of EPC and O&M contracts for electrical engineering requirements
  • Provide electrical engineering support during the construction phase of wind and solar farms

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant degree or equivalent and/or chartered status with at least 5 years experience
  • Grid connection negotiation experience essential
  • Wind farm reticulation design experience essential
  • Wind energy project experience essential
  • Project Management experience preferred
