Applications are invited for the above position based in Canberra. The Senior Economics Adviser will work closely with the Leader, the Chief of Staff and the Director of Policy to assist in the development and articulation of key economic policy to support the implementation of the agenda of the Parliamentary Greens. The Senior Economics Adviser reports to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for economic policy advice to the Australian Greens Party Room, including the provision of high level strategic advice on the economic impact of legislation and policy issues.
This position would suit a highly motivated person, preferably with qualifications and experience in providing high level economic advice in a political context. Applicants for this position should possess strong analytical and communication skills, effective judgement and strong evaluation capabilities. Knowledge of government and parliamentary processes would be an advantage.
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2010-2012. A salary within the range $111,403-$125,287 pa will be determined commensurate with relevant skills and experience (with a 3% increase due at the end of April). In addition, an allowance of $27,500 is payable (increasing to $28,325 from the end of April) and there is provision for a private-plated vehicle or allowance-in-lieu. A probationary period of three months will apply.
