This is a global management, engineering and development consultancy. With a £900million business spanning 140 countries with over 14000 staff in sectors such as transport, energy, buildings, water and the environment, health and education and industry and communications. The Highways Division is the market leader in Highways planning, design, procurement, and maintenance management. It has a deep understanding that encapsulates all Highways economic, social and environmental dimensions as well as design and construction. Our major projects include – A3 Hindhead Tunnel, A303 Stonehenge, Heathrow T4, Port Mann DBFO (Canada), Managed Motorways (Transport Technology) along with Project work in the Gulf, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. The successful candidate would be required to assist in the continued delivery of specialist Environmental Consultancy Services to the Highways Division, wider Transportation Unit and external clients. The environment team provides a wide range of specialsist environmental support to internal and external clients and has an increasing workload within both the transportation and development sectors. The team is currently looking to expand to meet its current and future commitments (which include provision of ecological consultancy services to HCC Business and Regulatory Services through the recently won framework). Based in Southampton, duties will principally involve the provision of ecological surveys and assessments and assistance in the every day running of the Ecology Team, including business development, bid preparation, and supervision and mentoring of junior staff. Candidate Specification Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience, competencies and skills:- - First degree in Ecology or directly related subject. - 10 years minimum relevant consultancy experience - EcIA experience to IEEM standard - Must be a Chartered Environmentalist - Strong report writing skills - Proficient in Word and Excel - Participatory experience of statutory environmental assessment procedures - Good communications skills Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience, competencies and skills:- - A second degree in Ecology or a related subject - Experience of obtaining a variety of protected species licences and liaising with regulatory bodies to negotiate and obtain consents - Relevant experience connected with Highways or other transportation major schemes. - Working knowledge of the requirements of documents such as WebTAG and DMRB. |
