Senior Ecologist – Full-time

Umwelt is seeking a Senior Ecologist who is looking to progress their career in ecological consulting, based at our Brisbane office. Our ideal candidate would have substantial previous experience as an ecological consultant, would enjoy dealing with clients and managing projects, and would have sound ecological survey, reporting and assessment skills.  You will work closely with our Brisbane team and Ecology teams to deliver quality project outcomes.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Ecologist who has:

• Sound technical ecological and project management skills including experience delivering ecological assessment and management projects for mining/oil & gas/infrastructure/defence/renewables in the QLD environment, as well as Commonwealth EPBC assessments; experience in NSW/NT/WA is also desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and undertaking ecological surveys, particularly terrestrial flora and/or fauna survey and assessment.
• A degree/post graduate qualification in ecology, botany, zoology, environmental science (or similar).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including clients and government agencies, as well as other staff.
• A high level of motivation and self-direction.
• Previous experience in the collection and interpretation of BioCondition data and its use in the relevant state specific calculations in accordance with QLD methodologies, and application of QLD and Commonwealth biodiversity offset policies.
