The Senior Director provides strategic and program leadership on environmentally and social best practices for mining, oil & gas devlopement within CI's Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB). This requires strategic thinking to identify opportunities, development expertise to promote the strategic vision, and program expertise to implement the vision.  He/She will also develop selected strategic partnerships with outside organizations.

This position reports to the SVP of CELB. The Extractive Sector is expected to be a  high growth area for CI as a whole and for CELB in particular. The Senior Director works closely with field operations in key countries, related departments at HQ such as Science and Knowledge and Marketing, and leads a small but growing team of 3-4 full time professionals supplemented with outside subcontractors.

The Senior Director will build our internal intellectual property in the Extractive Sector first by working closely with our existing programs, and secondly by building strong relationships with mining, oil, and gas  partners. S/he will also play a leaderhip position in selected industry associations.  S/he will be responsible for identifying new projects, negotiating and approving their scope of work, ensuring proper execution through the corporate team, and monitoring of field implementation.
