 CONTEXT

LTS has been working in the fields of sustainable development for over 35 years: management of change and environmental change has been a key aspect of this.  Climate change has catalysed a new emphasis on some of LTS’ key competencies, albeit through new policy drivers (UNFCCC, Kyoto) and climate change adaptation and mitigation is a growth area for LTS.  Linked to this, is our on-going implementation of natural resource and environment related projects and the increased emphasis on environmental services and benefits derived from good management.  LTS is looking for an experienced consultant with experience in natural resource or environmental management and a sound understanding of climate change issues to lead the development of this emerging area of business for LTS.  We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm to build this area of business and the consultancy team to deliver it. The post holder will be required to engage in and contribute to environment and climate change thinking in the UK and beyond, to contribute and influence market development for the benefit of LTS.

DIMENSIONS    The post holder will initially be expected to manage at least one staff member with a view to growing the team as the business area develops.  A sales and revenue target will be negotiated in line with business plan objectives.    The post is likely to be based in our Edinburgh office but location may be negotiable.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Essential
  • Qualifications to Masters level (minimum) in relevant discipline (e.g. climate change, natural resource management, environmental economics).
  • Minimum ten years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of the key Climate Change and Environment policy drivers (e.g. UNFCCC, Kyoto, CBD, UK and EU policy) and stakeholders.
