The post will support the Society's international scientific expertise through managing and undertaking a range of research projects in countries such as Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. This may involve supervising fieldwork abroad and considerable periods away from the lodge. The postholder will be expected to oversee projects from inception to completion, particularly taking a lead on data analysis, write up and publication of results. They will be required to liaise with other RSPB staff and external organisations to identify priorities for future research, develop project proposals and help secure internal and external funds. The post holder will require a biological/ecological PhD and, ideally, several years post-doctoral experience, some overseas.
