Job Title: Senior Coal-to-Clean Energy Campaign Representative

Department: Clean Energy Solutions Campaign, Conservation Department

Reports to: Senior CES Representative (Jonathan Kevles), San Francisco

Context: Plans, directs, and manages key elements of the Sierra Club’s Coal-to-Clean Energy initiative, including goal setting and planning of activities. Develops and directs strategies in collaboration with Sierra Club and target entity stakeholders, and clean energy solution vendors.

Scope: The Senior Coal-to-Clean Energy Representative has overall responsibility for the procurement, analysis, and presentation of reports accessible to lay persons on the high-level technical and economic pathways to shut down coal plants. Targets utilities, cities, and campuses across the country to have them move as quickly as possible off of their dependency on coal to allow for shut down of the coal plants from which they draw power. Assigns priorities and timetables, plans and develops strategies, evaluates campaign/program effectiveness. Develops and implements strategies and high-level work plans for each coal-power dependent entity. Facilitates the involvement and collaboration of Sierra Club volunteers and national, state, local, and campus-based staff in Coal-to-Clean-Energy work. Acts as a senior advisor to staff and volunteers.
