Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO) unites the producer-, market- and businessfacing activities within the Fairtrade Labelling system. FLO develops the Fairtrade Standards; promotes the empowerment of Fairtrade-certified producers by supporting them in gaining and maintaining Fairtrade Certification and capitalizing on market opportunities; and facilitates global Fairtrade markets, to optimise benefits for producers. The Global Product Management unit is responsible for driving growth in our core products by implementing strategies that follow Fairtrade principles and scale with integrity. Within the Fairtrade system Coffee is our Flagship product. It is by far the largest product, taking up the highest percentage of our lincensing income, being produced by more than 300 producer groups all over the world and sold in every Fairtrade market. The key objective is to lead development and implementation of a Fairtrade strategy for coffee and guide global coffee operations of Fairtrade to ensure growth of markets and to maximize the impact of Fairtrade on coffee producers worldwide. The Senior Advisor for Coffee will liaise with the Fairtrade Labeling Initiatives who promote Fairtrade coffee in their respective markets; the Fairtrade producers and Producer Networks representing Latin America, Africa, and Asia; other key stakeholders and experts in coffee; and the internal units within FLO. The interaction is essential in order to devise and implement a global Fairtrade coffee strategy. OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE: The main objectives of this position are to: • Define (with key stakeholders) the short and long-term global product strategy for coffee • Manage the subsequent implementation of strategy – owning plans (short and long term) and managing forecast accuracy levels of supply and demand • Recommend and take action based on plan and forecast: o Contribute towards development of supply base that provides quality and continuity of supply; via producer-facing activity o Help drive and guide business facing units to develop strategic sourcing plans for Fairtrade coffee to maximize benefit to Fairtrade producers (market facing activity) o Provide high level interaction, direction and information to all key stakeholders to ensure their ability to deliver against own objectives • Share knowledge and communicate across the wider Fairtrade global network on the GPM strategy, plan and delivery for coffee o Provide insight into policies, costs, supply chain, trading practices and pricing to maximize growth of the category and producer benefit • Represent Fairtrade Labelling in the global coffee market
