Ocean Associates, Inc. (OAI) is seeking a Scientist to provide support to the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Conservation Biology Division, Montlake Laboratory. OAI supplies personnel support services on contract to government and industry clients for marine fisheries and protected species. This project will focus on compiling data on the location, timing, and intensity of trawl fisheries for the purpose of understanding patterns of Chinook salmon bycatch by various trawl fleets. Information about salmon bycatch will be incorporated by scientists into statistical models for understanding the distribution of Chinook salmon by origin river, run type, and season. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to work with federal scientists to improve salmon harvest management in ways that will provide ecosystem benefits across species.
