Make a difference by being active in environmental safety

The Met Office mission is to provide essential forecasts for everyone, every day. Our teams cover commercial and government business, providing weather-related solutions to organisations of all sizes. We are looking for a motivated person to support the Radioactive Incident Monitoring NETwork (RIMNET) function that the Met Office provides under contact to Defra.

You will ensure that the Technical Co-ordination Centre response suite in London is in good working order, and you will assist the team in nuclear emergency exercises. You will also undertake routine analysis of RIMNET radiation monitoring data and ensure the RIMNET system continues to perform to specification.

You will be a good communicator who is organised, self-motivated and able to meet challenging deadlines. You must have the confidence to lead in the absence of other team members and know when it is appropriate to escalate issues to senior staff. You are able to understand scientific or technical information and be prepared to operate on an on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies.
