Our Project and Solutions (PAS) division provides advisory services to commercial clients and donors to support them in their goals to meet one or more of the following:
- Bespoke sustainability requirements (for instance, organisations’ own Sustainability Policies)
- Established sustainability standards (including Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM), Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard, Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Palm Oil Innovation Group (POIG), CanopyStyle, etc)
- Legal requirements (such as the EU Timber Regulation and other regulations connected with the sourcing of natural resources, deforestation, corporate sustainability and reporting
- Global initiatives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals
We are now looking for a Responsible Sourcing Specialist based in Europe, the United Kingdom or North America, to join our team.
What you will do
As a Responsible Sourcing Specialist, your main tasks will be to:
- Provide advisory services to a portfolio of clients in natural resource sectors to support them in their goals to meet sustainability commitments and legal requirements. This includes supporting them to establish and implement systems for responsible sourcing and associated activities, such as policy and tools development, engaging with supply chains, training delivery and verification audits
- Support service delivery activities, including ensuring quality, timeliness and financial oversight in relation to the execution of client services. Related activities include providing technical guidance and oversight to service delivery teams
- Support/conduct direct sales for sustainability services, including conducting sales meetings with clients, identifying service needs, and creating/reviewing budgets and proposals, according to internal sales procedures. Conduct activities to raise the profile of Preferred by Nature and PAS services in the region with the purpose of achieving our mission goals, as well as reaching regional revenue targets
Who you are
- You have a bachelor’s degree in forestry, biology, geography, environmental management, agroforestry, or other related natural science fields
- You have experience in working on corporate social responsibility, ESG policy development and implementation, or related areas
- You have an understanding or experience working with risk-based approaches to sustainability or legal sourcing, forest-risk commodities, deforestation, High Conservation Values (HCVs), traditional and civil rights, or other relevant ESG concerns.
- Field or related experience working in high-risk countries for forest-risk commodities or timber-legality is an asset
- You have proven relevant experience in the above for a minimum 2 years
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in other European languages is an advantage
- You are service minded, open and friendly. You enjoy communicating with people on all levels
- You are well organised and able to maintain structure in your work. You are also comfortable making independent decisions, as the nature of the job requires you to work independently and remotely from your colleagues

Additional information:
- The position is remote. Working location: home office of Preferred by Nature office (where available)
- The position holder reports to the PAS Senior Manager for the Region.
- Expected starting date: as soon as possible
