Island Conservation Society (ICS), a leading not-for-profit conservation NGO registered in Seychelles, is seeking applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions with the organisation -

Reserve Manager
|
- · Have overall responsibility for the conservation and protection of all plant and animal species in the Aride Island Special Reserve (AISR)) in accordance with existing legislation, as further specified in policies, strategies and protocols prepared by the ICS Board of Trustees through the Aride Advisory Committee (AAC) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
- · Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the AISR, reporting directly to the CEO.
- · Be responsible for a small team of local and expatriate staff and volunteers.
- · Have overall responsibility for the preparation of conservation management plans, and reporting, through the Director of Conservation and Science (DCS), to the CEO. Be responsible for overseeing the preparation of the monthly and annual reports for AISR.
- · Be responsible, in consultation with the Finance and Administration Manager (FAM) and DCS for the preparation and implementation of the annual budget, and for the stewardship and custody of the physical assets located within the AISR.
- · Be responsible for the implementation of the Aride Handbook and approved biodiversity and anti-poaching protocols.
- · Be responsible for safe handling on and off the Island, of all staff and approved visitors and the successful conduct of educational and guided tours in the AISR.
The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of US$26,400 per annum, subject to statutory deductions and non-taxable allowance of US$ 1,250 per annum.
Accommodation and utilities are provided free of charge.

Minimum requirement – University undergraduate degree in ornithology, biology, conservation and environmental sciences & management or related field.
Relevant field working experience.
Preferred – As above with at least 5 years of proven experience with a local or international conservation organisation in a senior management position and responsibility for the performance and output of senior and junior staff and proven successful leadership of people with common aims.
Desirable- Certification and/or demonstrable experience as a motor boat operator.
Certification as an Open Water Scuba Diver with at a minimum of 50 logged dives.
Basic first aid training from the Red Cross Society or other reputable training institution.

Senior Conservation Officer
|
Overall responsibility for the management of two or more conservation centres located on one or more inner and outlying islands or atolls in Seychelles. Candidates will have specific responsibility for biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem rehabilitation, fauna poaching mitigation and the planning and implementation of tailor-made work plans. Candidates will be expected to reside on the island and be responsible for the supervision and training, if necessary, of all other ICS Conservation staff on the island.
The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of US$20,300 per annum, annual salary review and subject to usual statutory deductions. Board and accommodation on the islands are provided free of charge.

Minimum requirement -
University undergraduate degree in ornithology, biology, conservation/
environmental sciences or closely related fields with considerable and relevant working experience.
Preferred – Postgraduate degree in the above subjects and considerable field experience.
Desirable- Certification and demonstrable experience as a motor boat operator.
Certification as an Open Water Scuba Diver with at a minimum of 100 logged dives.
Basic first aid training from the Red Cross Society or other reputable training institution

Conservation Officer
|

Candidates will have specific responsibility for biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem rehabilitation, fauna poaching mitigation and the planning and implementation of tailor-made work plans. Candidates will be expected to reside on the island and be responsible for the supervision and training, if necessary, of all other ICS Conservation staff on the island.
The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of US$15,900 per annum, annual salary review and subject to usual statutory deductions. Board and accommodation on the islands are provided free of charge.

Assistant Conservation Officer
|
Candidate will be required to work with other staff members to deliver the work programme for the island, to work on conservation programmes as directed by the Conservation Officer, and supervise the work of junior staff.
The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of US$12,200 per annum, annual salary review and subject to usual statutory deductions. Board and accommodation on the islands are provided free of charge.

Minimum requirements –
University undergraduate degree in the biological, conservation or environmental sciences or closely related field or at least 4 years’ experience working with ICS or similar organisation in the position of Senior Conservation Ranger. Preferred – Above with some years of direct relevant experience.
Desirable- Certification and demonstrable experience as a motor boat operator.
Certification as an Open Water Scuba Diver with at a minimum of 50 logged dives.
Basic first aid training from the Red Cross Society or other reputable training institution
