SINTEF Materials and Chemistry is one of 5 research institutes comprising the SINTEF group, the largest independent research organisation in Scandinavia. The institute has about 365 employees working in 8 different research departments, located in Trondheim and Oslo. The institute provides research based knowledge, with high competence in the fields of material technology, process and chemical engineering as well as chemistry and biology. We strengthen the industrial competitive power of our customers with research and development, research-based consulting and laboratory services.
The department of Process Technology constitutes of about 55 employees distributed within 4 research teams; Catalysis, Chemical Engineering, Flow Technology and CO2 Capture Processes. The latter research team is recently established based on the increased activities within the field.
The CO2 Capture Processes team The CO2 Capture Processes team have close collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and represents a research centre of high international standing. We are participating in a number of industrial projects and have a close relationship with other companies in the field, such as Aker Kvaerner and StatoilHydro. We are also participating in a number of EU projects within CO2 capture technologies.
The team’s competences include · Absorbent technology, from molecular simulation to pilot scale experiments · Construction and servicing of experimental equipment, from bench scale to pilot plant sizes · Mathematical modelling. Using lab results for simulation of whole processes · Simulation and optimisation of CO2 capture processes. We are developing our own simulation software (CO2Sim) but we also use commercial tools such as Hysys, ProTreat and MatLab

Our research team is expanding and we need 4 new staff members. We are seeking applicants with background in mathematical modeling and computer simulation and/or experience within practical laboratory work, such as building of experimental equipment. We also encourage people to apply if they have related experience in a similar field.
Qualifications Doctoral or a Master of Science degree in either: Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mathematics, or similar. We are also seeking a laboratory technician.
