Description

NERA Economic Consulting (www.nera.com) is a global firm of experts dedicated to applying economic, finance, and quantitative principles to complex business and legal challenges. For nearly half a century, NERA's economists have been creating strategies, studies, reports, expert testimony, and policy recommendations for government authorities and the world's leading law firms and corporations. We bring academic rigor, objectivity, and real world industry experience to bear on issues arising from competition, regulation, public policy, strategy, finance, and litigation.

NERA's clients value our ability to apply and communicate state-of-the-art approaches clearly and convincingly, our commitment to deliver unbiased findings, and our reputation for quality and independence. Our clients rely on the integrity and skills of our unparalleled team of economists and other experts backed by the resources and reliability of one of the world's largest economic consultancies. With its main office in New York City, NERA serves clients from over 20 offices across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

We have an opening in our Boston office for a researcher in the energy/environment practice. The position will provide the opportunity for considerable responsibility for developing analyses and interacting with clients on issues in the following areas: (1) climate change economics, including assessments of greenhouse gas emission cap-and-trade programs, renewables policies, and energy efficiency programs; (2) air emissions policies, including evaluating the cost-effectiveness of various potential EPA other other regulations; (3) Clean Water Act policies, including benefit-cost analysis of major investments to reduce fish losses at electric power plants; and (4) economic impact projects, evaluating the potential effects on jobs--and other measures of regional economics--of energy and other infrastructure.

Qualifications

We are seeking recent graduates, with a BA or BS in a quantitative field, who enjoy solving analytical and empirical problems and have exceptional creative and critical thinking skills, as well as excellent oral and written communications skills. Those with coursework and/or experience in economics, econometrics/regression analysis, engineering, statistics, applied math, finance, accounting, computer programming, and the ability to use statistical software, such as SAS or Stata, are most desirable. We will consider candidates with 1-2 years of experience.

Our consultants' work includes building quantitative models; analyzing industry trends and competition; academic research; creating intuitive presentation materials for complex analysis; drafting expert reports; writing code for complex data analysis; and participating in client meetings. NERA provides a challenging and rewarding professional experience with competitive compensation and benefits. Overtime is expected, as needed, to meet client deadlines. Our research staff travel less than 10% of the time. We promote from within, and do not have an up-or-out policy in career development. To help meet the demands of the position, we support both personal and professional growth.
