USGBC is currently seeking an experienced individual to join the Research Department.
The Research Manager will assist and manage a growing variety of projects and ongoing activities contributing to USGBC’s goal to increase collaboration and build on existing research as it relates to green building and LEED. This goal serves USGBC’s customers, constituents, committees and staff. Job duties will generally involve management of in-house and contracted research projects initiated by USGBC, as well as consultation to independent research projects of interest to USGBC.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Coordinate with USGBC program staff to identify and prioritize research needs.
Manage contracted research projects.
Conduct in-house research projects, such as various analyses of LEED project data (building performance as well as market-related topics).
Perform grant management and quality assurance tasks supporting USGBC’s Green Building Research Grant Fund.
Facilitate relevant third-party research projects through data sharing and consultation.
Track other upcoming third-party research projects of interest to USGBC.
Represent USGBC at technical forums; engage industry peers; and present research findings.
Relate research findings to USGBC’s technical, education and outreach needs.

To increase USGBC’s capacity to facilitate, analyze and disseminate research.
To position USGBC as a primary driver of emerging LEED-related and green building research agendas.

Qualifications/Skills:
Masters degree is required; PhD preferred
2-5 years experience is required, which may include PhD work- in market research and/or diverse building performance research (a combination is preferred)
Knowledge of current research, and sources of research, relating to green buildings
Quality report composition skills
Ability to communicate research results to expert and lay audiences
Strong statistical analysis skills
Survey design and analysis
Experience with project management
Excellent skills in written and verbal communication, organization, and attention to detail
Proficient software skills (e.g., statistical analysis software; MS Office – especially Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
