As Research Associate between the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Group and Schlumberger, a leading international oilfield services company, you will plan and undertake world-class research on methods for risk analysis of subsurface CO2 storage sites. The focus will be on developing methods and protocols to evaluate risks associated with prospective sites rapidly and robustly, based on an initially sparse but rapidly increasing information of diverse types, and leading to recommendations on the suitability of each site. You will be expected to publish ground-breaking research papers in peer-reviewed journals; you may have the opportunity to transfer your novel methods to other industrial and academic project partners, and to help to prepare bids for funding future research and development in related areas. You will have PhD in Risk Analysis, or some highly pertinent area of Mathematics or Statistics, preferably as applied within the Geosciences, Engineering, or in some other related area. Within your domain of expertise you will be prepared to provide leadership to this multi-disciplinary, multi-partner project, and will be ready to hit the ground running in this demanding and fast-moving field.
