Description

My client is a leading provider of renewable energy solutions globally. They plan, construct and operate wind (onshore and offshore) and solar power plants across Europe, North America, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. They have a very strong and unique business model and have an entrepreneurial culture within the business, encouraging staff to come up with ideas to contribute to the business and rewarding them accordingly.

 

They now have an opening for a Finance Manager to be based in their London office, who will look after the company finances for the company’s UK and European operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • ·         Overseeing all budgeting issues within the company in the UK and Europe
  • ·         Ensuring that all internal and external audit requirements are met
  • ·         Working with complex issues relating to IFRS
  • ·         Reporting on important finance issues such as quarterly and annual statements, board financial information and management accounts
  • ·         Sales and P&L forecasts
  • ·         Working with key stakeholders in the renewable energy business in order to make important decisions relating to forecasting and budgeting on small and also important large-scale renewable energy projects
  • ·         Dealing with all accounting tasks within the company

 

Other responsibilities:

  • ·         Ensuring strong relationships are maintained with bank managers, suppliers and clients
  • ·         Process evaluation, management and improvement
  • ·         Educating key internal members of staff on various aspects of IFRS for the end-of-year audits
  • ·         Maintaining a high standard in order to safeguard the company reputation
  • ·         Reporting on specific projects in relation to budgets, forecasting and accounting

 

Essential skills and qualifications:

  • ·         Qualified accountant
  • ·         At least 3 years’ post-qualification work experience in an accountancy role preferably within the renewable energy, infrastructure or construction sector
  • ·         Absolute fluency in written and spoken English
  • ·         In-depth, demonstrable knowledge of IFRS
  • ·         Proven success in managing and setting large budgets for important projects
  • ·         Outstanding relationship management skills
  • ·         Well-versed in accounting IT software

 

Desirable attributes:

  • ·         Excellent communication skills
  • ·         Pro-active, problem-solving “can-do” attitude
  • ·         Strong commercial mindset; able to look at small issues and see them within the wider context of the business
  • ·         Able to explain complex IFRS and other accounting issues in plain English
  • ·         Highly organized
  • ·         Background in accountancy from either a Big 4 firm, a blue-chip industrial competitor or a large financial institution
  • ·         Other European language skills could be useful: German, Dutch, Danish, Italian, French etc
