The position is based in region, at the Asia-Pacific Field Division (APFD) regional hub in North Queensland, Australia (Atherton / Cairns) and will meet the growing demands of high-level analysis for climate and ecosystem service projects developing within the APFD. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Centre for Applied Biodiversity Science (CABS) based in headquarters, Arlington US, to build analysis and modeling capacity throughout the field division. The primary responsibilities of this position are to collect and analyze a range of satellite and airborne remote sensing data for monitoring terrestrial habitats. The majority of effort will be on remote sensing for the support of REDD-related projects in compliance with currently proposed VCS/IPCC standards. The analyst will generate statistics and maps, train and support field staff and partner organizations in the use of remote sensing for mapping and monitoring vegetation, and land use change; and provide technical oversight and quality assurance in support of the production of remote sensing products. Other occasional responsibilities may include GIS analysis supporting land use decision-making and spatial planning. RESPONSIBILITIES:
