Job Title: Regional Representative— Western Region National Coal Campaign

Department: Conservation

Reports To: Regional Field Organizing Director

Context: Plans, organizes and coordinates the activities of staff and volunteers in carrying out the activities for the National Coal Campaign in Los Angeles, CA. Participates in the development of strategies and priorities.

Scope: The Regional Representative is responsible for the coordination of one or more conservation campaigns within the region. Participates in the strategies and helps to carry out organizational and issue visibility in regional and national media and in the local community. Provides leadership to broad based statewide coalition. Participates in activities and services provided by the regional office. Works in close cooperation with volunteer leaders, national and local conservation staff on conservation campaigns.

Knowledge & Skills:

-- B.A./B.S. degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science or a closely related field.

-- At least 3 years experience in grassroots organizing, training and motivating volunteers, coalition building and lobbying.

-- Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.

-- Strong demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated public speaking ability.

-- Excellent knowledge and background in energy, public lands and related issues preferred.

-- Prior experience and knowledge of the legislative process.

-- Demonstrated effectiveness working with volunteers.
