The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.
The Conservation Programmes Department is looking for a well organised and diligent administrator with financial management experience. The successful applicant will be managed directly by the Operations Manager and will work closely with the Regional Programme Mangers and the field based Regional Programme personnel. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial records sent to the ZSL finance department are audit worthy and will support the management of the programme finances by monitoring project budgets, providing monthly income and expenditure reports, analysing account reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, preparing personnel contracts and maintaining up to date health and safety and insurance records.
Applicants should have significant accounting and administration experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound knowledge of accounting practices and financial management systems and be highly proficient in excel. Good spoken and written English is essential. Competence in French would be an advantage. This position will be desk based in London at Regent’s Park.
Experience of dealing with charity accounts, managing grant funds and working internationally with other cultures would be desirable. A job description for this post can be found on our website www.zsl.org
