Description
This post is supported by Natural England via the Countdown 2010 Biodiversity Action Fund and is anticipated to be a fixed-term post for the period January 2008 to March 2011

A once in a lifetime opportunity to work across some of England's top reedbed sites, and shape future conservation management practices.

You will be responsible for delivering a programme of wildlife and habitat surveys at key reedbed sites, assisted by a field assistant and specialist ecological contractors.

Your findings will directly contribute to the development of new management advice, aiming to maximise the total biodiversity value of reedbeds, disseminated through a national programme of publications, events and management advice.

Your work will include project planning, recruitment of staff and volunteers, practical survey work and data analysis and report-writing.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have working experience of wetland botanical surveys, with practical experience of invertebrate, mammal and amphibian surveys an advantage. Project management skills, including staff and contractor management, is also required.
