R&D Specialist Optical Sensors, Germany

My client is a leading technology provider to the energy industries and are looking for an R&D specialist with several years of experience to oversee their research ad development department.  

Position Overview:

Based in Germany, you will become a member of a multi-disciplinary team participating in new high volume and low cost optical transceiver research and development projects. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on highly innovative product development projects for both established and emerging markets.

Responsibilities:-

• ·         Development of opto-electronic fiber sensor systems for medium to high volume applications
• ·         Definition of requirements and selection of technical sensor concept based on analysis of existing solutions and evaluation compared to new technologies
• ·         Setup of partnership for sensor products and preparation for make or buy decisions.
• ·         Execution of development projects based on in house technology combined with new concepts of external partners
• ·         Selection of optical and mechanical components, ICs, fibers and overall concept / design

Education:-

• ·         Either a Masters or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Opto-electronics Engineering

Core Requirements:-

• ·         5 – 15 years of experience in opto-electronic research and product development
• ·         Excellent knowledge of active optical components (lasers, LEDs, photodiodes), optical fibers, optical design and coupling to fibers
• ·         Excellent knowledge of optical fiber sensor concepts and insight into supply chain from component manufacturer (supplier) to system integration and end application (end customer)
• ·         Fluency in German is desirable

Key Skills:-

Masters or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Opto-electronics Engineering, opto-electronic research, knowledge of optical fiber sensor concepts, fluency in German, R&D
