Salary: £34,303 - £38,168 per annum inclusive of all allowances. Contractual hours: 37 Basis: Full time Workplace role category: Workplace Job reference:OENV0432 Burnham Beeches NNR, SAC/Stoke Common SSSI This role provides a rare opportunity to help manage the nationally and internationally recognised Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common which together consist of 300 ha of ancient woodland, wood pasture, valley bog and heathland visited by over 600,000 people each year. You will be part of a dynamic ranger team responsible for all aspects of care of these two nature reserves and open spaces in Buckinghamshire. You will be responsible for supervising contractors, developing and leading volunteers, delivering projects to conserve the important features, maintaining facilities, leading guided walks and events and providing, high quality customer care and uniformed patrols. As part of the operational team, you will be expected to deliver annual work programmes, use tools and machinery, care for livestock, including in invisible fencing, and ensure safe working practices. You should have excellent communication skills to deal with a wide range of visitors and interested stakeholders. You should hold an appropriate qualification (minimum of diploma or NVQ Level 2) in a land management discipline and you need to have a full driving licence. To meet the challenges of this post, you will have proven experience of practical countryside management, supervising projects and working effectively in teams and alone. Service accommodation is provided with this role and you will be required to work on an out-of-office hours duty rota in relation to your residential service occupancy status. This is in addition to working an average 37 hours per week on shift and one weekend in three. Your duties will often require you to work outside. Starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
