Description

This is an opportunity to join a team for 12 months, working in one of New Zealand's most unique and isolated environments. Four of these positions are based on Raoul Island in the Kermadecs, 1000 km NE of the New Zealand mainland. The fifth position will be based in the Warkworth Office in an island support role. The small team of staff will include 4 volunteers, with the primary focus of the team being the control of introduced plant species in the Raoul Island forest. You may also be required to perform meteorological and geophysical tasks on the island. Maintenance of the buildings, roads, walking tracks, machinery and other equipment is also undertaken by the team. You will have proven ability in remote tramping/climbing and a good knowledge of plants. One of the positions requires proven mechanical skills.

Each applicant for Raoul Island should contribute some of the practical skills required by the team, such as weed control, plant propagation, boating, rope techniques used in climbing, tree fall clearing, rural fire fighting, building maintenance, and using computers with MS Office applications
