Job Description

The Palmerston North Area manages the conservation land/country between the Turakina and Manawatu Rivers, and from the Waiouru tussock and Ruahine Ranges to the sea.

We want a highly motivated, capable and suitably experienced Ranger for the Mangaweka Field Centre team, based 15 minutes south of Taihape. You will assist the Field Centre Supervisor to deliver all operations, including major plant and animal pest control projects, working with protected species, fire control, law enforcement, working with communities, general office administration, and some recreation facilities construction and maintenance. Although based in Mangaweka, Field Centre staff can work across the whole of the Palmerston North Area.

Mangaweka is on State Highway 1, an hour from Palmerston North, near the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges. It is the centre of some of New Zealand’s best hunting, tramping, trout fishing, jet boating, and white water rafting and kayaking.

Applicants must demonstrate, in their CV, evidence of the essential capabilities detailed in the Role Description.
