Job Description

The Turangi Taupo Area is seeking a Ranger to work in the Biodiversity Team. The successful applicant will work from our Area office based in Turangi, which is co-located with the Tongariro/Taupo Conservancy Office.

 

This position would ideally suit an individual who:

  • Has a genuine interest in the Department’s management of natural heritage resources, conservation and the environment
  • Has experience in species protection and threat management (flora and fauna with the preparation and delivery of work plans for both species management and pest weed/animal control)
  • Is able to lead a team, work independently, as well as working effectively across the Area team
  • Has experience in supervision, managing resources and overseeing health and safety in the work place (essential)
  • Has the ability to train and upskill staff as required
  • Has the ability to work with and have a lead role with community groups and volunteers
  • Has IT and computer skills knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to spend some time in the field. A good level of physical fitness and field experience is essential.
