Reference number: 2008/18 The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is looking for a Project Manager/Lawyer (Environmental Law Programme) for implementing environmental law projects and to replace a member of staff on maternity leave. The Environmental Law Programme contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development through the progressive development of international and domestic environmental law and through support to legal communities in Central and Eastern European countries, including independent environmental lawyers, judges, prosecutors and others. The Environmental Law Programme is dedicated to the progressive development of environmental law both internationally and within each Central and Eastern European (CEE) country through support to the development of multilateral environmental agreements, state-of-the-art legislation, citizens’ environmental rights, and legal professionalism. Main Responsibilities -The main projects on which the successful candidate will work include Progress Monitoring for EU Candidate Countries in the Area of Environment; and the Environmental Law Approximation Network (ELAN) for South Eastern Europe.
Experience and skill level required
Education Degree in law (advanced degree preferred, European Union law valuable).
The employment contract will initially be limited to 3 months with a possibility of extension. Only suitable candidates will be contacted for interviews.
