Position Title: Project Manager INBAR Department: Global Programme Reports to: Director of Global Programme for programmatic issues and to Director of Regional Office for East Africa for administrative and operational issues Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Term of Employment: 3 years, with 6-month probation period. Renewal will be based on performance and fund availability. This is an international position. The annual package is EUR 80,000 to EUR 85,000 (salary plus benefits).
The International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) is an inter-governmental development organization committed to reducing poverty and protecting the environment through the use of bamboo and rattan. With headquarters in Beijing, China and offices in India, Ethiopia, Ghana and Ecuador, INBAR works with 41 member countries worldwide.
INBAR is currently seeking a highly capable Project Manager with a demonstrated track record in implementing large-scale sustainable natural resource management, rural livelihood development and, or industrialization projects, to manage the “Dutch-Sino-East Africa Bamboo Development Programme”. This is a 3-year project managed by INBAR and supported by the Governments of the Netherlands and China. The project will be implemented in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, with technical support from China and the Netherlands. The project will be managed from INBAR’s Regional Office for East Africa in Addis Ababa.
The successful candidate will:
Experience:
Education: A Postgraduate Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Resource Management or another related field.
Language: Excellent Written & Spoken English required; Knowledge of Chinese would be an advantage.
Travel: The successful candidate should be willing to undertake extensive travel in East Africa, as well as to other INBAR offices as required.
