Description

My client provides reliable energy solutions to the German market in particular within the Wind sector. They are one of the major manufacturing suppliers to the wind market internationally and are now looking to expand into wind farm production. They are looking to develop a few teams in order to construct projects offshore in Germany going into 2011.

 

Position Overview:

My client currently require an experienced project manager to work in the offshore wind farm sector in the UK on a contract basis and lead a team of planners, developers and engineers in the development of wind farms. You will be reporting to the director of project management in the Germany.

Responsibilities:

  • ·         You will be involved in overseeing the proposal stage through to the commissioning and constructing process
  • ·         Preparing the technical studies and planning for the wind farm developments
  • ·         Providing technical support to engineers and contractors across the wind farm project in order to perform to the highest standard and ensure your growth within the company
  • ·         Performing as a leader and manage teams throughout the construction process
  • ·         Liaising with senior program managers and developing strong working relationships within the company
  • ·         Working to the highest standard to promote the company and ensure market recognition and future opportunities within the renewable energy field for the consultancy company
  • ·         Technical planning, studies and due diligence of proposed or operational wind farms
  • ·         You will be in charge of EPC contact negotiations
  • ·         Taking on a more senior role in motivating and mentoring those working on the renewable energy project.  
  • ·         Overseeing the negotiations and procurement process with manufacturers and developing market contacts with those in the area
  • ·         You will be a key player from origination to execution, with opportunities to have control over sourcing and deal making, investment strategy, negotiations and project delivery

Education:

You will have a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent

Core Requirements:

  • ·         You will have  4-10 years working in the offshore wind energy market through the planning and implementation of wind farms
  • ·         At least 1-2 years experience in offshore wind farm project management
  • ·         Experience working with and liaising with a variety of clients and investors involved in the projects
  • ·         2-3 years working in a senior management position preferably within the renewable energy sector
  • ·         Strong level of ambition in a desire to progress within the role
  • ·         You will have demonstrated practical engineering experience within the wind sector
  • ·         Experience working with MS Office and Wind Pro

General requirements

  • ·         Excellent management skills
  • ·         A technical background working on wind farm projects
  • ·         Excellent communication, written and presentation skills
  • ·         Fluent in English (written and verbal) other language skills are an advantage
  • ·         A keen interest in the wind market and a desire to see it progress and be part of its development in Europe
  • ·         An ability to travel across Europe to various projects

Key skills

Onshore and Offshore wind farm projects experience, project management experience, technical knowledge and long term desire to work in the renewable energy market
