Find a job you’re wild about at the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), the nation’s largest member-supported conservation organization, which is at the forefront of global warming issues, reconnecting our children with nature, and protecting America’s wildlife and habitat.
We seek a dynamic individual to manage organizational, logistical, research and communications components of the Agricultural Commodities/Deforestation Dialogue and Modeling experts meetings that NWF is launching, under a grant provided by the Moore Foundation. In particular, the project is designed to develop productive relationships among the major actors in the “sustainable commodities” roundtables for crops that impact on tropical. Under NWF’s leadership, large producers, global traders and retail consumers of these commodities, such as grocery store chains, will meet with major environmental groups, such as WWF and Greenpeace, to explore possibilities for agreement on ways to reduce the “forest footprint” and greenhouse gas emissions associated with commodities production.
The project will include organizing major meetings in a variety of locations, undertaking research, producing policy options papers as input to the dialogue, preparing summaries of the results and producing publications for wider distribution. The Project Manager will manage contracts as necessary, assist in preparation of fundraising proposals and project reporting, and manage electronic communications related to the project.

Education:
Must have a master’s degree in environmental economics or policy, or other subject related to the project described above, is required. A doctoral degree would be desirable. Some academic background in tropical forest ecology or sustainable agriculture would be a plus. Working knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable.
Required Skills:
Minimum of five years experience in research and/or policy analysis is essential. Experience living in other countries and dealing with diverse cultures is essential. Experience with environmental certification systems and/or standard setting, and multi-stakeholder processes would be desirable.
