Earthwatch is recruiting a Project Coordinator to support delivery of our Capacity Building activities, including training of emerging scientists, educators and students. Earthwatch works with teachers and students to empower the next generation to take action to save our planet. We enable scientists to develop a range of field skills, communication skills and confidence, to inspire others and affect change on the ground. Using citizen science we take learning outside, promote pro-environmental behaviours and aim to inspire, connect and empower those who take part.
The ideal candidate is an excellent coordinator, with a keen focus on ensuring delivery of activities to a high standard. You have experience of effective planning and working to agreed processes to deliver results, demonstrating collaborative working across different teams, regions and functions. You are also able to work proactively and independently, asking for guidance and support when necessary. Experience of working in an NGO, educational or science organisation would be beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities
Role purpose: To support the delivery of the Capacity Building projects and provide administrative support to the wider programme and partnerships team
Key deliverables:
- Coordinate delivery of the Capacity Building project activities, including application processes, participant communications, logistics, risk management, reporting and alumni communications in line with Earthwatch processes
- Ensure participants are recorded accurately and updated as necessary on the CRM to ensure we have a first-class relationship management system
- Support delivery of some Capacity Building training, in person, as part of an agreed delivery schedule.
- Support key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
- Monitor project outcomes and impact, and completion of reports according to agreed monitoring frameworks
- Support excellent communication amongst members of the Capacity Building Programme team, through building strong relationships and administrative support (arranging meetings, taking minutes, flagging actions, etc).
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Learning Managers, to plan and develop protocols and resources for all elements of the Capacity Building Programme.
- Support the Project, Learning and Fundraising Managers in the ongoing communication and development of the Capacity Building Programme, including capturing compelling stories and expansion in to new areas.
- Attend events and conferences where needed to present and promote our programme(s) and encourage collaboration and engagement
- Support other organisational priorities as required
Requirements
Personal Specification:
- Excellent planning and organisation skills –able to multi task, work well under pressure, and do not need to be asked to do something twice
- Ability to collate and process project performance data from a range of sources, preparing clear information which informs project management and planning
- A demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for environmental issues across a wide range of topics, which enables you to engage others
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully work with diverse audiences and build strong relationships
- Flexible, self-motivated, with excellent time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication‚ perfect grammar and attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Commitment to undertaking a DBS check.

- Previous work experience in administrative positions or other work experience within an office environment
Desirable
- A degree in an environmental science related discipline or equivalent professional experience in ecology and/or environmental science with field-based ecological experience
- Knowledge of the education sector and/ or experience engaging with school groups or teachers
- Experience of creating compelling communications for reports and various online platforms (website and social media)
- Experience of event management
- Clean driving licence
- Experience of working in an NGO and/or corporate environment
