Project Assistant - Baltimore, MD

POSTING DATE: June 5, 2008

DURATION: June 23, 2008 through September 1, 2008

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

DUTIES: Position available for the Baltimore Ecosystem Study, a Long Term Ecological Research Site (LTER) based in Baltimore, Maryland with field offices located on the UMBC campus. Assist in research addressing the spatial distribution of heavy metals in urban residential soil. Duties include field sampling, data entry, lab analyses, homeowner recruitment, and general lab tasks as needed.

BACKGROUND: BS or BA in relevant field desirable but not necessary. Familiarity with or interest in urban ecology a plus. Familiarity with Baltimore highly desirable. Must be willing to engage with the general public regarding public health issues.

CLOSING DATE: June 16, 2008 or when position is filled.
