Description

Project Title, details of position and duration

Assessment of Chambal River for the evaluation of ecological impacts of proposed lift irrigation scheme at Kanera, District Bhind, Madhya Pradesh.

(01 – Project Assistant)

Duration: 4 months.

Essential Qualification

Masters degree in Wildlife Science/Environmental Science/Zoology/Botany with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification

Minimum of 1-2 years of research experience on subject related to ecological survey of rivers and wetlands with special reference to crocodile, turtle, river dolphin, otter and waterbirds. Working experience on quantitative analysis of major water and air pollutants. Proficiency in using computers and good writing skill in English language.

Description of Work

a)   Determine the spatio-temporal distribution of key aquatic fauna such as gharial, River dolphin, Smooth-coated otter and waterbirds in the Chambal River. 

b)   Derive the current mean annual flow of the Chambal River between Kota Barrage in Rajasthan and Chambal-Yamuna confluence in Uttar Pradesh.

c)   Assess the impact of construction and water abstraction that is likely to affect the major wildlife of the Sanctuary.
