Description

This position manages the new "Global Air Pollution Unit", which is based on existing work of the Global Coal and Air campaign work of Greenpeace East Asia (GPEA), while increasing and extending the scope and ambition.

 

The Global Air Pollution Unit consists of a campaign specialist and campaigner, scientist and data analyst. The Unit serves as the provider of cutting edge knowledge and campaign tools on air pollution, to accelerate energy transition away from coal and oil with a global scope, both towards Greenpeace’s global network, and supporting NGO allies in key countries. It also supports, and is integrated to GPEA’s energy campaign work in particular analysis and commentaries of outstanding energy trends in China.

 

The Program Manager will take on key management functions to ensure smooth operation and growth of the Unit, including at least:

 

  • Line management & recruitment of staff in the Unit.
  • External liaison & funder engagement, as well alliance building with the academic community and NGO circle.
  • Internal collaboration & relationship management with GP offices, including GPEA.
  • Strategy development and planning.
  • Project management functions whenever necessary.
  • Representation of the Unit whenever necessary. 

 

The Program Manager needs to work closely together with the lead Specialist in the Unit to provide shared leadership, with the lead Specialist focusing on substance and expertise.

 

The position will be based in Greenpeace East Asia Taipei office, and will need to be able to travel in the key countries partnering with the Unit.
