Directory Entry : Founded in 1967 as the Environmental Defense Fund, we tackle the most serious environmental problem...a scrappy group of scientists and a lawyer on Long Island, New York, fighting to save osprey from the toxic pesticide DDT. Using scientific evidence, our founders got DDT banned nationwide. Today, we’re one of the world's leading environmental organizations. In the U.S., Fortune magazine called our board one of the country's most influential nonprofit boards. You can see the jobs of the EDF on their website.

Description

The Program Coordinator reports to the Project Manager, Energy Program Operations and provides vital programmatic and administrative support by developing and implementing efficient protocols for project tracking, program expenses, invoice and contract management, scheduling, and meeting and event planning for projects designed to help advance the goals of the Energy Program. This position supports team members located in different time zones and countries within the Energy Program so the ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. The Program Coordinator proactively solves problems and independently troubleshoots and addresses issues that arise and possesses strong communication skills. This is a challenging role requiring advanced organizational and time management skills, great attention to detail and the ability to respond to quickly shifting priorities.

Program Overview

EDF’s Energy program works to reduce the climate, health, and environmental impacts of the current energy system while accelerating the transition to a low carbon energy economy with clean energy access for all. We have successfully won climate and clean air protections across North America and internationally, including playing an instrumental role in the passage of sweeping clean energy legislation in California and Illinois; establishing oil and gas methane pollution as a priority environmental issue; and prompting regulation of oil and gas methane in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

  • Administer domestic and international contracts for consultants, including assistance in writing and processing contracts and working with program staff and consultants to ensure the fulfillment of contractual obligations and timely submission of invoices.
