Program Associate
Greenhouse Gas Management Institute

Join an entrepreneurial and mission-driven nonprofit organization established to build the quality and capacity of people around the world working on climate change and greenhouse gas management.

The Greenhouse Gas Management Institute is actively seeking a Program Associate to support various organizational activities and operations. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, substantive experience in GHG measurement, management, and/or verification, and the acumen and initiative to manage a diverse workload on deadline with minimal supervision.

Start Date: Immediately
Location: No requirement, but North America or Europe preferred
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary range: US $45,000 to $55,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director and/or other GHGMI officers, the Program Associate will contribute to the on-going work of the educational, research and professional programs. Specifically, the Program Associate will:
• Take the lead in developing content for e-learning courses
• Provide support or take lead on reports, proposals, and other deliverables.
• Supervise interns and contractors as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in engineering (preferred) or science is required. A post-graduate degree (MSc or equivalent) would be an advantage.
• At least 3 years of work experience is required, and at least 2 years experience with climate change and GHG measurement, management, and/or GHG verification. Consulting experience a plus. Experience working for a GHG auditor/verifier a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of provincial/state, national, international, and voluntary GHG programs desired.
• Technical understanding of GHG standards and protocols, industry/association GHG quantification guidelines, auditing, and GHG technologies desired.
• Knowledge of and work experience with relevant climate change institutions, NGOs, and government agencies an advantage.
• Exceptional English writing ability is essential and required. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a timed writing exercise.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English is required, other languages an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, ability to access the Internet, and use internet-based IT tools is required.
• Project management experience is desired.
• Ability to work in a team is required.
• Experience working in an international environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of learning science/theory, pedagogy, and/or course design is an advantage.
