Conservation International's (CI) Strategic Marketing + Global Communications division is dedicated to achieving a new global conservation ethic. We are looking for an experienced, creative, and multi-skilled Production Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communications problems. He/she will develop the overall layout and production design of content for a variety of publications, displays, Power Point and Keynote presentations, and web pages, among other materials using sound, artwork, photography, animation, motion graphics, graphs, and charts. He/she will also be responsible for the production of this content, which includes overseeing printing and print quality. This person will contribute to editorial and graphical review to the aforementioned items to ensure that they are of the highest visual quality and consistent with CI’s brand identity.

This position will be responsible for developing and implementing processes to support the content creation workflow and will coordinate and lead content creation projects and tasks and ensure that they are of the highest quality. The candidate will have significant experience with managing numerous, fast-moving projects and tasks.

The Production Manager will require regular coordination with our online, content + stoytelling, media, editorial, events, and global engagement teams as well as with other divisions throughout CI on a variety of projects. The ability to develop strong working relationships across functions and at all levels is key. He/she will also manage a staff of three designers and photo editors as well as external freelancers and consultants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee and produce content for electronic  materials (online, presentations, videos, PDFs, eNewsletters, etc.)
  • Manage design projects, which includes components such as charts, graphs, motion graphics, interactive tools, design elements, photographs, videos, writing, sound, and illustrations
  • Oversee and produce print materials related to internal and external meetings, the CI annual report, fact sheets, brochures, reports, holiday cards, calendars, displays, and similar high profile marketing materials
  • Ensure that aesthetics are consistent and meets CI branding guidlines and web usability standards
  • Work with our Art Director (outside consultant) on a routine basis and with the Senior Managing Producer of Content + Storytelling on workflow and project management.
  • Coordinate with our online, content + storytelling, media, editorial, events, and global engagement teams as well as with other divisions throughout CI on a variety of projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree/ 5 years

Required Skills:

This position will require strong project management skills to effectively manage what is expected to be multiple projects of various types with various deadlines. The person holding this position will also need to be adaptable to excel in a fast-paced environment with demands that can be expected to change on a weekly – and sometimes dail – basis.
  • College degree required in related field
  • Three years professional design experience
  • Working proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite 2 or 3 including (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat)
  • Macintosh OSX and Windows XP (Vista?) operating systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Working proficiency designing templates and presentations in MS PowerPoint and Apple Keynote
  • Strong knowledge of email client/browser compatibility and email/web standards as well as Flash, Action Script, HTML, CSS, and Dreamweaver
  • Comfortable with 4-color printing processes, photo editing and color-correction
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fluid, multi-tasking, deadline-driven, team-based environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Requires good time management and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with high level of initiative and strong sense of ownership to see a project from conception to completion
  • Experience creating graphs and charts from data for use in presentations and publications
