As a Product Management intern at OPOWER, you'll help us drive the development of new products and features designed to motivate and educate consumers to reduce their home energy use. Product management spans from ideation to launch, so we're looking for candidates who have a passion for innovative software applications, keen analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with software development teams.

PROJECTS

Specific project assignments will depend on your capabilities and the priorities of the team in Q3 and Q4. Projects may include (but are certainly not limited to) one or more of the following:

  • Working closely with building performance experts, product managers, and engineers to devise the requirements and approach for an adaptive energy efficiency recommendation engine.
  • Building a detailed model of the factors that influence OPOWER's cost-to-serve our various utility clients, to help inform product development efforts to reduce that cost and/or gain access to new markets.
  • Authoring detailed user stories for new social and community-oriented product initiatives.
  • Analyzing wholesale electric markets in various US regions and abroad to ascertain the size of the market for behavior-based peak demand reduction.
ABOUT YOU
  • Fantastic analytical skills: ability to solve problems quickly, establish frameworks, think on your feet
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to tailor communications to a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience with software product management preferred but not required
  • Preference for graduate students in a technical discipline or entrepreneurial-focused MBA program, but college seniors are recent graduates will be considered.
