These roles are based across the Fisheries Management Team, Fisheries Transition Team and the Marine Conservation Team, within the Operations Directorate. These teams work closely and flexibly, in a positive, engaging and rewarding environment on high profile projects. The roles can be based in any Defra office across England, subject to capacity. Would you like to be part of a team helping to shape and deliver new and ambitious approaches to fisheries and conservation management? We are seeking suitably qualified candidates for five exciting roles to work across three high-performing and dynamic MMO teams. • 3 x Principal Fisheries Managers – to work in the Fisheries Management Team/Fisheries Transition Team • 2 x Principal Marine Conservation Manager – to work in the Marine Conservation Team These roles will be central to delivering critical aspects of the Government’s ambitions for sustainable fisheries and recovery and enhancement of our marine environment. The roles will work in several high-profile and important areas including: • Developing some of the UK’s first Fisheries Management Plans • Protecting our Marine Protected Areas from the impacts of human activities, principally fishing and marine recreational activities • Leading and coordinating the English Regional Fisheries Groups • Leading specific projects central to UK fisheries reform and our transition from EU fisheries management • Management of fishing effort • Responding to marine pollution incidents Please refer to the candidate pack attached to this advert for full details of the exciting opportunities we have available.
