Description

The Spatial Data Infrastructures Unit is responsible for the
overall technical co-ordination of the INSPIRE Directive
2007/2/EC. This involves the support to and coordination of
the international teams drafting the INSPIRE Implementing
Rules, to ensure the viability  and evolution of the technical
infrastructure for INSPIRE and to ensure technical
coordination between INSPIRE  and other relevant EU and
international initiatives such as Shared Environmental
Information System (SEIS), Global Monitoring for
Environment and Security (GMES) and the intergovernmental
Group on Earth Observations (GEO).
The regional and local authorities in Lombardia, Italy, are
developing a large site north of Milan to be the venue of the
international EXPO 2015. Within this project, the JRC
provides scientific and technical support in developing a
spatial data infrastructure integrating data and services for
professionals, business, and citizens. This project acts as pilot
for the European spatial data infrastructure (INSPIRE) and
the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS). The
grantholder will support the assessment of the data sets and
services made available by the regional and local authorities
in relation to the INSPIRE specifications and SEIS
requirements, contribute to defining the methodological
framework to assess their added value to different user
groups, and put forward proposals for a set of location-based
mobile services for visitors to the EXPO 2015.?
