Description

The IES Action ‘MONDE’ is looking for a postdoc
scientist who will work on the threats and
vulnerability of Protected Areas in Africa,
Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP). This
includes:
• Assessment of anthropogenic and natural
threats to Protected Areas in ACP regions and
evaluation of their vulnerability
• Technical integration of data in the Reference
Information System of ACP Protected Areas.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in
environmental sciences or related field (or a
University degree and 5 years of research
experience after the university degree giving
access to doctoral studies).
Experience in the field of monitoring and/or
evaluation of protected areas (or natural
resources) is required. Knowledge of GIS and
statistical packages is essential. Most
developments will be made using open sources
software (e.g. Python, R, PostGIS, QGIS) and
any experience with these languages and tools
would be an advantage. Good programming
skills are an asset.
Good knowledge of spoken and written English is
required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an
asset.
Relevant publications and presentations should
be highlighted.
