Description

Join Britain’s biggest walking charity to help more people enjoy the benefits of walking.

Demonstrating the role of walking in improving Britain’s health is a key priority for the Ramblers, and we are looking for an experienced Policy & Advocacy Officer who can help us deliver on that. This is a pivotal role in the team, where you will be expected to provide robust policy analysis and to develop compelling policy positions, as well as to lead on advocating those positions to decision makers in the health sector. You’ll also need to ensure that this work complements other policy and advocacy priorities across the GB team and in Ramblers Scotland and Ramblers Cymru.

This is an exciting time to join the Ramblers team and a great opportunity to make a lasting and tangible impact on the future success of the charity.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate that they understand and support the Ramblers’ core values.
  • Produce compelling evidence-based policy which supports organisational priorities and reflects external changes.
  • Work effectively with decision makers in central, devolved and local government, with experience of building and maintaining relationships with external organisations especially in the health and walking sectors.
  • Think strategically, with the ability to plan, prioritise and exercise sound political judgement.
  • Gather data from a wide range of sources, with ability to research and interpret complex information and present in variety of accurate and accessible formats.

The Ramblers are an equal opportunities employer.  We warmly welcome applications from appropriately qualified people from all sections of the community and aim to promote diversity.
