According to its mandate, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) was authorized to regulate pesticides in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The food sector at SFDA has recently established the Pesticides Directorate for acquiring regulatory and control tasks of pesticides (both for public health and agriculture). Preparing for that, the Pesticides Directorate needs consultation and specialists of a high skill and experience to work in the Pesticides Directorate.
Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate current situation of regulatory and control tasks (both public health and agriculture) in KSA and plan for developing of:
Related regulations;
Registration of establishments and pesticides;
Inspection of establishments and pesticides Prepare the Pesticides Directorate for acquiring pesticides regulatory and control tasks (both public health and agriculture);
Organizing work;
Training staff;
Conducting regulatory and control tasks Expected Outputs;
Set of regulation for pesticide control;
An executive plan for developing registration and inspection tasks;
A set of operation manuals for different tasks of pesticide control;
Implement an effective operational regulating system for pesticides in KSA Reporting to NPC and UNDP Country Office;
The Project Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) will report to the National Project Coordinator (NPC) and maintain in close contact with UNDP Saudi Arabia Country Office.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Ecology of Pesticides or any other related fields.
Experience:
15 years (minimum) of extensive and recognized experience as an advisor on subjects of public policy pertaining to technical fields of pesticides regulatory and control tasks; - registration of establishments and pesticides - inspection of establishments and pesticide production and imports/exports;
Change management for acquiring pesticides regulating tasks.
