Description

The Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is now inviting applications from qualified professionals with passion and commitment to to join our team in Honiara, Solomon Islands, working on the Pacific European Union Marine Partnership Programme (PEUMP). 

What we are looking for-:

A full-time Fisheries Policy Specialist and Team Leader. Reporting to the Director Fisheries Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities of the PEUMP programme as implemented by FFA in conjunction with other agencies and implementing project activities to promote private sector led growth of the domestic tuna industry. Some of the key areas of responsibilities for the position will include (but not limited to):

- Assisting Pacific-ACP Countries in the preparation and implementation of comprehensive sector-oriented tuna national development policies and strategies; 

- Facilitating annual policy dialogues between PACP countries and relevant/interested Directorates of the EU on fisheries and marine issues;

- Managing a major programme of support for small to medium tuna fishing enterprises that will improve their businesses and address social and environmental issues; 

To be successful in this role:

You will need to hold a graduate degree in fisheries management, marine policy or equivalent discipline, along with proven work experience in preparing and presenting policies, plans and reports. The position involves the direct leadership of four professional staff in the development, allocaion and disbursement and reporting of a  US$10 million programme. As such the successful candidate must possess the ability to effectively manage deadlines for multiple project strands, driving the project forward while maintaining document flow and meticulous record keeping for all donor administrative and reporting requirements.
