The Forest Stewardship Council-US (FSC-US) is the independent national office of FSC, the global leader in forest certification. FSC promotes responsible use of forests by developing the world’s most respected forest management and chain-of-custody standards, evaluating and accrediting third-party certifiers, authorizing use of the FSC label on forest products, and by providing public education about FSC as a crucial tool for ensuring that the world’s forests are protected for future generations. FSC is experiencing extraordinary growth in demand for certified products and FSC-US is likewise a fast growing organization achieving remarkable results. Currently 135 million acres of North American forestland is FSC-certified (350 million acres globally). More than 3,900 U.S. companies are certified under FSC’s chain-of-custody standards (20,000 globally). POSITION and RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Office Manager, the Intern will conduct research and special projects, and assist staff in the maintenance of the FSC-US database as well as other tasks. This position is located at our Minneapolis office and requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a six month period. FSC-US will pay a $600 per month stipend and cover all direct expenses. The ideal candidate should be ambitious and team-oriented, with a passion for forest conservation, social equity and market transformation.
