Supervisor: Vice President, Operations

Description: The Operations and Maintenance Manager will oversee the management of the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the generation assets, in accordance with operating plans and budgets.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide direction and technical support to site teams.
2. Assist in management of special site projects / non standard site contracts.
3. Assist in ongoing investigation and analysis of asset performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and maximize generation.
4. Assist with updating and improving site operational procedures.
5. Produce routine weekly and monthly O&M reports.
6. Lead regular meetings with sites.
7. Daily monitoring and analysis of the performance of the sites.
8. Work with site teams to ensure timely park restarts after plant outages / trips.
9. Assist in co-ordination of scheduled and unscheduled grid outages.
10. On call on a 24/7 basis to occasionally respond to urgent operational issues, curtailment and voltage support assistance.
11. Provide vacation coverage to sites.
12. Manage key responsibilities for NERC compliance.
13. Work with regional entities.
14. Complete site audits, annual sub-contractor safety audits, and inspections for safety and operation.
15. Review invoices and advise the VP of short to medium term forecasted costs and changes in spend against budget.
16. Assist in preparing annual budgets and operation plans.
17. Work with construction teams during final phases of construction to takeover and ensure close out of any outstanding construction issues.
18. Work with client teams for transitions from construction to operations of new operational assets.
19. Oversee work on site by contractors, including turbine maintenance, crane activities, Electrical HV and civil works.
20. Work with banks, client(s), landowner, community, local authority and other stakeholders.
21. Assist in identifying and setting up site subcontractors.
22. Assist with upkeep of databases of faults and maintenance/performance issues.
23. Work with OEMs and engineering teams in respect of Defect Notifications and non-warranty investigations.
24. Regular review, statistical analysis and evaluation of asset performance/status.
25. Document the investigation of plant failures and shortfalls.
26. Identify and appraise of plant improvement opportunities.
27. Alert the VP and Turbine Engineer of emerging faults and issues and maintenance or retrofits required.
28. Assist with contract management of operations contracts.
29. Any other tasks as directed by the vice president of operations.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 3-5 yrs experience in the site operation management of wind farms OR mechanical background is required.
2. Substation switching experience preferred but not essential.
3. Expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the public and landowners and will be instrumental in ensuring on time O&M and cost effectiveness running of the plant.
4. Ability to travel 25%.
5. Current and valid driver license and valid passport.
6. Skilled in MSOffice, Outlook, Excel and Access / database.
7. Self motivated and has the ability to climb wind turbine towers.
8. High voltage training and previous switching experience desirable.

Education: B.S or Degree level education in electrical, mechanical engineering or other appropriate technical field.
