Officer, National Protected Areas

Protecting Australia's Nature Program, Pew Charitable Trusts

Application Deadline 10 February 2023

The Opportunity

An experienced campaign leader with a track record of success is sought to drive the Pew Charitable Trusts' advocacy for protected areas in Australia. Globally, scientists are calling for 30% of the planet to be protected by 2030 to halt the extinction crisis and give nature a chance to adapt to our changing climate. The successful candidate will lead Pew's advocacy to ensure that Australia meets this challenging target through advocating for policy change, funding for nature and the creation of new large scale and effective protected areas. The role will work with partners and Pew's state-based campaign leaders to build a strong campaign for nature. A strong emphasis will be placed on ensuring benefits for both people and nature; and meaningful engagement with First Nations people. Understanding of Government and ability to activate public and stakeholder support will be important to the success of the role.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a campaign to drive an outcome of global significance and create meaningful change for people and nature in Australia.
