Location: The job will be hosted within the International Office of the Plymouth Marine Laboratory
Position: 2 year Fixed Term Appointment (1st September 2023 – 31st August 2025)
Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 dependant on experience

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in a related scientific topic, preferably marine or ocean related, or equivalent work related experience
- Some experience of project management
- Excellent general oral and written communication skills. This would include evidence of effective report writing (in English) and data collation skills, and an ability to speak to a range of audiences at public events and fora
- Some experience of using different communication tools and media (including webpages and social media)
- Good organisational skills
- Passion for the marine environment
The tasks of the OARS PO would be:
Support coordination of activities

Support the activities of the OARS co-leads through the organisation and management of regular OARS champions and working group meetings.
- Manage the OARS contribution to the Ocean Decade Multiple Stressors community of practice, and manage any interaction with designated coordinating actions
- Act as a link between the OARS secretariat and the GOA-ON Executive Council and secretariat.
- Provide a link between OARS and the UK Ocean Acidification team at Defra, and with other key UK based partners, funders or stakeholders.
- Support the OARS internal programme reporting (e.g. drafting meeting reports, organizing internal meetings, collating performance and impact monitoring data)
- Collate OARS programme performance data and evidence and report this back to the UN Ocean Decade Co-ordination Centre, [IOC-UNESCO].
- Collate and provide progress reports on the progress of the OARS Project Office to UK Defra as funders of the UK OARS Project Office.
- Act as the focal point for OARS external communications and dissemination activities (including webpage/website, social media, short films, webinars, popular articles etc).
- Facilitate communication between, the existing UN Ocean Decade endorsed actions assigned to the OARS programme and support the creation and successful endorsement of others (especially from within the UK and the GOA-ON NE Atlantic regional hub).
- Support communication within and between the OARS Outcomes, their co-champions and working groups.
- Facilitate the creation, publication and wide dissemination of the OARS Outcome white papers, plus additional subsequent publications from the OARS Outcomes.
The role is based in our laboratory in Plymouth, with a fixed term full-time contract of 37 hours per week.
